Anti-gambling group No Casinos has launched a new website — www.lessforfla.com — riffing off of AIF’s www.bestforfla.com site that promotes “integrated resorts,” the fancy new name for casinos.
The No Casinos site mocks the Associated Industries of Florida site with lots of red pencil substituting “mega-casinos” for “integrated resorts” and asking declaring that “casino must not poll very well.”
The battle between the two sides is certain to heat up. On Monday, Senate Gaming Committee Chairman Garrett Richter, R-Naples, said he wants the Senate’s proposal to include two “destination resorts,” one in Miami-Dade County and one in Broward. Licenses would be competitively bid. The committee is scheduled to continue a discussion of “elements” of the bill next week but won’t take a vote until March, Richter said.
